The results of our Christmas customer competition are in!
To win an iPad we asked our customers to tell us which OnApp feature Santa would appreciate most. We had a great range of entries, so let's look at few of the honourable mentions before we announce the winners...
Close, but no cigar
There were some popular themes in your answers. A lot of you thought today's Santa simply couldn't live without OnApp's autoscaling and load balancing, including Jeff at Uncorrupted.net: “so he can deliver presents to as many houses at once without getting tired and overworked!” Load balancing would also make life easier for Santa’s reindeer, especially if you add automatic reindeer failover, as Chris at Lightning Base suggested.
“Amazing support,” said Edward at CloudNext – “we have OnApp, Santa has his elves!” David at Royalty Networks suggested hot migration for Christmas gifts, “so Santa stays home and eats cookies instead.” Meanwhile, Richard at Dediserve suggested “Multi-Site Failover”, adding “It's awesome, innit?” It certainly is :]
Self-provisioning was another popular theme, saving poor Santa the bother of all that travel. You’d definitely need the OnApp permissions and limits system as well, though, if kids really could help themselves.
CDN was another popular response. “Christmas would not be complete without a CDN (Christmas Delivery Network)”, said Sean at DedicatedServers, along with a few others. Richard at eApps sent a more musical entry: “Dashing thru the Cloud / On an OnApp open sleigh / Selling CDN / Laughing all the way!”
Some of you came up with feature requests. These are always nice to read, especially when they’re already on the roadmap. Finally, some of your ideas were clearly inspired by a little too much Christmas spirit. At least one involved a sexy santa outfit – thanks Stéphan. We won’t share your suggestion here :]

Michael at Basedrive, who said: “Santa would love the analytics - to see who has been naughty and who has been nice. If little Billy uses too much and doesn't share he will get an overage for Christmas.” Poor Billy!
