Customers on camera: Exabytes
17 September 2012 by
Exabytes is a Malaysian web host with 60,000 customers in 121 countries - and it's one of the latest providers in the Asia-Pacific region to move to the cloud with OnApp.
Exabytes was founded in 2001, and serves customers at home, in small businesses, public sector organizations and large enterprises. It uses OnApp as its platform for a range of cloud hosting and CDN services, with pricing and features tailored for this diverse customer base.
Chan Kee Siak, founder and CEO of Exabytes, was kind enough to talk to our roving camera crew about why he chose OnApp. Check out the video for the full story!
“OnApp is the only cloud software we saw that is tailor-made for the hosting industry," he says. "It fits the hosting business model very well."
"Almost everything is 100 per cent automated with OnApp," he comments. "Services are set up almost instantly with the automation provided by OnApp at the back end. That really improves our bottom line. More importantly, to our customers the experience is seamless."
He also talks about our federated approach to CDN, and how it enables service providers like Exabytes to offer global CDN services without investing in new infrastructure around the world.
“Prior to OnApp only huge companies were able to offer CDN services, because you need 50 or more locations around the globe... huge investment is needed," Chan says. "However, by tapping into the resources available in OnApp's CDN federation, you can still offer 50 plus locations and compete with other CDN providers."
Our thanks go to Chan for his time. You can read more about Exabytes' cloud services here.
