FAQs
Is the free version crippled or time limited?No! Aside from the differences described above, the free version offers the same rich functionality as the full version. You're getting a fully-functional, cutting-edge cloud management system, free of charge.
Does the the free version have restrictions?There are no commercial restrictions with the free version. It is, however, limited to one free license per person/per company. In addition, you cannot use the free version if you already have a full version license.
Why should I pay when I can get it for free?You're welcome to use the free version for as long as you like: there is no charge for clouds with up to 16 cores. The most important difference with the full version is the inclusion of 24x7 telephone and email support, with a 15 minute SLA, as well as unlimited scalability - both essential for production clouds.
Can I switch between free and full versions?You can upgrade your free version to a full license whenever you're ready, through the OnApp dashboard. You'll get a dashboard account when you deploy either version of OnApp Cloud software.
How is the free version supported?The free version is self-install, with support provided by the OnApp Community. If you need help setting up your free cloud, you can purchase one month's support for your installation.
Are there options for large scale deployments?If you're considering a large scale (>1,000 core) deployment with OnApp Cloud, please contact us.
How do I install the free version?We'll take a few details and create your OnApp dashboard account. Once you've sorted out your servers and network (see our preparation guide) you can set up a free license in the dashboard, and follow straightforward instructions to begin your deployment. The installation itself is largely automated.
How do I buy 1 month's support?You can order temporary support for your cloud installation through the OnApp dashboard, after you have set up your free cloud license. One month's support costs $500.
