  Smart disk technology

  OnApp’s patent-pending smart disk technology means that each physical disk in your SAN is a smart, self-managing, self-discovering and self-contained unit. That means disks are hot-pluggable. There is no centralized management system to fail, and each node can make decisions about data synchronization and load balancing without depending on a central controller.

  OnApp Storage is 'VM-aware': it knows which physical disk holds a copy of data belonging to a specific virtual machine. That's extremely important, because it enables OnApp Storage to store VM data close to the VM that needs it - which optimizes storage throughput and performance.
