Last week, OnApp attended the Intel Solutions Summit hosted in Madrid, Spain. This is the first ISS event of the season, and exclusive gathering for Platinum-level Intel Technology Providers (ITPs). We were there to showcase our new HCI/hybrid cloud appliance based on Intel PCSD hardware and the OnApp cloud management software platform.
As a software vendor, I think OnApp had a pretty unique product at the event – most other vendors being purely focused on hardware. Though of course, our cloud-in-a-box solution packages OnApp software with Intel hardware, and this sparked a lot of interest from Intel distributors and resellers looking for faster, easier and more affordable ways to bring HCI/Hybrid Cloud to their clients.
With around 1,200 ITPs attending, the OnApp booth was incredibly busy as we showcased our cloud appliance – and in the many, many conversations we had with Intel partners, discussed how it can be used for a wide range of specific applications ITPs are delivering to their clients – some of which we hadn’t even considered before the event.
That’s the beauty of our new cloud appliance: by integrating everything into a single package, it offers a platform that Intel partners can build on and tailor with their own unique value propositions.
As well as our busy demo schedule, we presented a session with Intel on “How to Drive a Differentiated Hybrid Cloud”. This was a technical session where we offered a series of labs to the attendees, who could get their hands on the OnApp software and see how easy it is to create and modify virtual machines, and use our ‘recipe’ system to automate and manage workflows.
These ISS events are really well designed. The showcase area with vendor booths is open twice a day, during lunch and dinner – so instead of having to somehow balance their time between vendor conversations and the sessions going on during the day, attendees can chat with vendors in a relaxed atmosphere over food and drinks. The keynotes were great and the agenda was packed with all kinds of great sessions – as well as plenty of entertainment in the evenings.
We had a great event, and it was fantastic to meet so many ITPs with so many great ideas for our Intel-OnApp cloud appliance! We look forward to meeting many more Intel partners at the next ISS event in Macau at the end of April, and in the US in May.
In the meantime, you can learn more about our HCI/hybrid cloud appliance at onapp.com/intel. Thanks!
