It’s here! We’ve just released an update to OnApp v5.5 (our current stable release) that adds support for VMware vCloud Director 9.

So now, you can use OnApp to bring multi-tenant self-service, enhanced billing and much more to your vCD 9 environment (learn more about OnApp for vCD here).

This hotfix patch (patch4) also includes enhancements for KVM and XEN clouds, plus a new version of the XEN hypervisor for some operating systems, and additional recipe variables, too.

You can read the full list of changes at our documentation portal, here:

How to upgrade

The OnApp support team are happy to offer the standard, free upgrade service during working hours, or alternatively you can get in touch with our PS team to arrange a scheduled upgrade, at your own convenience.

You can also perform the upgrade yourself. As this is just a patch, the upgrade process is really quite simple:

For vCD and KVM/XEN customers, the control panel will need to be upgraded:

1. Update OnApp YUM repository file:

# rpm -Uvh

2. Update the Control Panel installer package:

# yum update onapp-cp-install

3. Run the Control Panel installer:

# /onapp/onapp-cp-install/

4. At the end of the update, you need to reply ‘yes’ when the system offers to download ISOs and images. This is required to install version 6.9 recovery images.

For Static XEN and KVM Compute Resources, you will need to upgrade the hypervisors too:

1. Make sure your compute resource is visible and online in the Control Panel.

2. Download and install the latest OnApp YUM repository file:

# rpm -Uvh

3. Upgrade OnApp compute resource installer package:

# yum update onapp-hv-install

4. Update your server OS components (if required):

# /onapp/onapp-hv-install/ -y

5. Run compute resource installer:

For CentOS 6 XEN compute resources:

# /onapp/onapp-hv-install/

For CentOS 6/7 KVM and CentOS 7 Xen compute resources to download new recovery images, run:

# /onapp/onapp-hv-install/ -t

6. Reboot static compute resources.
