What’s hot at VMworld US 2018? Attending this year from OnApp are myself and Jim Freeman  – we’ve been at VMworld since Sunday and so far it’s been really useful for meeting our existing and hopefully new clients from the US region.

While we don’t have a booth at this event, we have been using the time to explore and get ready for our booth at VMworld Europe. So what has been the focus of this event?

The opening session on Monday, hosted by VMware’s CEO, Pat Gelsinger saw the celebration of VMware’s 20th year with an overview of the several ‘acts’ in VMware’s history.  These included Server Consolidation, Software Defined Networking, and most notably the main theme of this year: VMware’s next ‘act’, Multi-Cloud. This is a prominent theme throughout the conference and sees many breakout sessions and announcements focusing around this.

OnApp has provided integration with VMware for the last 4 years.  Multi-cloud management has always been a key feature of OnApp with our management of KVM, XEN, vCloud Director and more recently vCenter, which is currently in beta and soon to be released!

During the welcome session Pat also talked about the VMware Cloud Verified group of partners, which lists companies who provide complete and verified VMware hosted cloud solutions.  It was great to see that out of the 16 partners currently in this group, two of these partners are using OnApp to deliver cloud services.

We’re here until the end of the conference, so please reach out if you would like to meet! And if you’d like to know more about the value OnApp brings to vCloud Director and vCenter… those are the links to head to. Thanks!
